The reflection paper above shows my general understanding and personal biases towards constructivist principles before and in the midst of taking this course. It was imperative that I kept an open and reflective mind when reflecting on my own practice and understanding. In the same way, it is important for my own students to be able to reflect freely and openly on any prejudices they may hold.
The constructivist lesson plan that I created (right) was based on a project that I had already launched in the classroom - a dialogue between a past and present Renaissance man or woman. Through it, students are challenged to reflect on and discuss their own values, work with others, and construct their own vision of 'genius.'
